More often than not, there is a price tag attached to the choices you make, but not all prices have to be paid in money. For example, you can find joy in a relationship, the emotional capacity for love coming as a free gift when you get the body. This is not to deny there may be costs to love, but a successful relationship is priceless. However, to keep a relationship stable and successful usually requires a reasonably consistent level of sexual performance. Adult couples expect to be able to enjoy their time together in bed. Some stories about people can be inspiring, others depressing. There are as many approaches to this issue as there are articles to write. Yet, there are some facts that cannot be denied. All the people who are overweight have an increased risk of diabetes, high blood pressure and heart disease. Smokers have an increased risk of cancer and cardiovascular diseases. Worse, many people who have unhealthy lifestyles are seriously penalized as victims of discrimination &#8211; work opportunities are more limited, life insurance premiums are significantly higher, and so on. Yet there are no remedies for this discrimination because having an unhealthy lifestyle is not a disability like losing a leg in an accident. It&#8217;s a choice people make.</p>
<p>Ignoring the physical difficulties of sexual intimacy when the partners are significantly overweight, those who run into diabetes or heart disease will find all sexual activity restricted. Add in the effects of smoking and the risk to sexual function rises dramatically. A recent non-scientific survey into sexual health looked at the relationship between lifestyle and erectile dysfunction. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention collect information about the rates of obesity, diabetes and smoking across the US. All these correlate to erectile dysfunction. The research team then examined data about exercise habits, discovered how many urologists were employed by hospitals in each city, and collected the data on the number of prescriptions written for erectile dysfunction drugs.</p>
<p>The results confirm that more prescriptions are written in southern cities where the rates of obesity are higher and people exercise less. In fact, Tulsa in Oklahoma came out as the least healthy city with the highest rate of prescriptions written. Northern cities like Boston and New York which have active campaigns to promote healthy eating, e.g. to ban the use of trans fat in all cooked food outlets, and extensive bans on smoking in public places, have the lowest rates of prescriptions written. The study is unscientific because not all prescriptions written are ever converted into drugs, and many people use the internet to buy <a href="http://www.36hour-strong.com/articles/lifestyle-and-sex.html">cialis</a> and the other erectile dysfunction drugs without a prescription. Nevertheless, the results are interesting and match common sense expectations. The message is clear. As a result, the US has a significantly worse problem with obesity than any other country. The rule is that you are what you eat and, if you eat too much, you end up overweight. So your strategy has to be to eat less. Curiously, the most important decision is how often to eat at home. If you cook for yourself, you have a better control over the quantity of food you eat. Go out with family or friends and, when the food arrives, there is that expectation that everyone will clear their plates. In such circumstances, you must keep control, eat only half and pack the rest home &#8211; that is one less meal you will have to cook for yourself.</p>
<p>One tip for your own kitchen. Buy a set of smaller plates. The eyes often deceive the stomach. If you put a small portion on to a large plate, it looks unsatisfying. You are more likely to feel hungry and want a second helping. Put the same portion on a small plate and it looks more generous and you will often feel more satisfied. For those of you who are more lazy and prefer to cook less often, cook a large batch. Take a number of small boxes, portion it out and store separately in the refrigerator or freezer depending on how quickly you will eat the batch. You should also add a side salad to each lunch and dinner. This should not be a simple serving of lettuce. It&#8217;s better to mix salad with vegetables. The fibre content helps you feel fuller more quickly. In all of this, you should avoid snacking. There are enormous amounts of calories in snack foods. Hopefully, you can stick with a three-meal-a-day routine of smaller quantity without feeling hungry. If hunger does become a problem, go for mini meals more often. That way, you eat the same amount of food, but spread out differently over the day.</p>
